Children Square USA is Hiring a Foster Care Renewal & Support Services Specialist Near Council, IA

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is specialized to provide either Licensing or Supportive services in "high volume" geographic areas of the state. Works in a blended role capacity, providing both licensing and supportive services in "low volume" areas of the State.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts pre-screening activities for potential foster families.
  • Writes complete, thorough, and unbiased home study assessments or prospective and current foster and adoptive families, recommending licensure and/or adoption approval and submitting timely to HHS.
  • Meets contract requirements for foster families with or without placements.
  • Supports foster families to keep children stable for as long as a placement is needed.
  • Provides pre-service and/or in-service training as requested.
  • Manages match referral assignments when assigned the lead, assures timely completion of matches and modifying work strategies to meet such timeframes.
  • Obtains thorough and complete referral information to assure optimal matches.
  • Assesses strengths and limitations of placement options.
  • Follows troubleshooting procedures when matches are potentially late.
  • Utilizes the RRTS database and local supervisors to locate the optimal match for each child referred.
  • Provides one or more names of Resource Families to HHS/JCS that meets the requested referral criteria.
  • Documents family contacts timely (as they occur) as per matching protocols.
  • Assesses permanency needs of the child/youth.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders for case management.
  • Travels within the designated area.
  • Meets with families and children in their homes or institutional settings (if applicable).
  • Supports pre-adoptive families through to adoption to assure stability.
  • Provides on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, Business or Social Services
  • A minimum of one year related experience
  • Requires valid driver’s license, vehicle and automobile insurance, and driving record that meets agency policy.

PHYSICAL: Work performed typically while walking, sitting or standing. Must have the physical ability to work for extended periods. Must have visual acuity, including close, depth, color and peripheral vision. Must be able to ascend/descend up to 10 steps within a 30-second time frame a minimum of 10 times per shift. Ability to perform general activities which includes considerable use of arms and legs, moving the entire body such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. 

QUALIFICATIONS / LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Must meet hiring qualifications for the position as set by contractual agreements with HHS, JCS, Managed Care, the Council on the Accreditation of Family & Children's Services, and/or any funder as relates to the position.
