What We Do…
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is driven in the belief that there is power behind simple acts of kindness. Throughout our work, staff, patrons, and community, we strive to spread kindness wherever we can and to encourage children to act kindly toward others. CTC has grown to become a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences. CTC is a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences and is recognized for the breadth and strength of its programs. We are dedicated to creating vibrant and engaging theatre experiences, both on the stage and in the classroom. Our typical season consists of large book musicals, as well as more intimate productions. Generally, we produce 7 - 9 mainstage shows, 2 elementary school tours, and 1 - 2 preschool tours annually. While we are a professional theatre creating shows for children, not by children, and will generally cast student actors in one or two shows throughout the season. Our production season runs from September to June.

As the Head Electrician, you will be a key member of a highly trained, committed, and talented production and artistic team. In this role, you are responsible for leading an electrics team to implement and maintain the lighting designer’s and director’s artistic vision. In this position you will specifically:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE : You have at least 3 years of professional experience as a lead, or assistant to the lead electrician, plus a degree in theatre, OR at least 5 years’ experience as a lead or assistant to the lead electrician.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Directly supervises the full time, seasonal assistant electrician and overhire electricians.
SALARY & BENEFITS : This is a regular, full time, year-round exempt position with a salary of $42,000 to $44,000. Design opportunities possible with supplemental pay. Benefits package that includes paid time off; medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability, life, 403(b) retirement plan, reduced class/summer camp fees and free show tickets. Night and weekend hours are required.
