The social work position will be located in Children's National Hospital's school-based health centers at Ballou High School and Dunbar High School. The social worker will 20 hours a week at each location. As a member of the multidisciplinary team in the school-based health center, the social worker will collaborate with other mental health and health care professionals to support students. Skills include crisis intervention/trauma informed care and knowledge of community-based resources.

Must be licensed in the District of Columbia at the LICSW-level. Experience working with adolescents required.

The Social Worker fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community agency representatives and visitors, provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment for identified patients and based on findings, facilitates interventions. Effectively uses interpersonal communication skills to resolve conflicts and promote a healing environment. Demonstrates leadership and advanced clinical practice by mentoring junior staff, educating social work students and staff, medical/nursing providers on a range of topics that impact patient and family coping, communication, family dynamics, de-escalation and staff coping.

Pay: $71,000.00 - $91,000.00 per year
