Summary:
In Food Services, the Team Leader will be primarily responsible for one area, such as Production, Retail, Patient Services, or general operations, but is required to be knowledgeable and supportive in all areas. All Team Leaders are responsible for training and leading a group of employees. When primarily supporting Production, the Team Leader ensures time for kitchen operations and puts quality control measures in place to ensure food safety. The Team Leader is responsible for the preparation and design of all food menus. The food prepared should be of good quality and taste. This position should also be skilled in plate design for special events. When primarily supporting Retail, the Team Leader ensures front-of-house operations are running smoothly with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and food safety practices. The Team Leader must also be comfortable with cash-handling situations and service recovery. When primarily supporting Patient Services or general operations, the Team Leader is responsible for following food safety practices while ensuring customer and patient satisfaction. The Team Leader needs to be knowledgeable in various diets and ordering systems to troubleshoot or improve services provided and effectiveness in service recovery.
Responsibilities:
  • Daily management of food service production operations and employees
  • Fill in for Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Ensure recipe compliance in all production areas.
  • Resolve any production issues that arise
  • Order food and sanitation supplies as needed for production operations
  • HACCP focused with TDH and City regulatory requirements in mind
  • Ongoing and initial training of staff to ensure competency
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patients we service and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues related to our population.
  • Staff evaluations/conflict resolution/development/reprimand.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills to oversee and make recommendations to budget/cost control/financial reports and other analytical reporting
  • Daily use of cbord/Kronos/Lawson
  • Assist Food Service Department as needed with additional duties
  • Identifies areas of risk/problems and advises food service leadership. Works on resolution while keeping leadership informed.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years experience in food services (Preferred)
  • At least 3 years of food service leadership experience (Preferred)
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Obtain Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire, and maintain current status thereafter. (Required)
  • CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) for Patient Services Lead role (Preferred)
  • Culinary School for Retail/Sous Chef role (Preferred)
