We re-instill their confidence and love of learning by helping them acquire the academic and social-emotional skills they need for lifelong success.

The Sand Hill School Classroom teacher possesses a passion for teaching children who learn differently and team-teaches a class of about 12 students with learning, attention, and social challenges. The Classroom teacher is responsible for designing a personalized program for each student that leads to increased student outcomes and a successful transition to a more typical classroom. The Classroom teacher collaborates effectively with their teaching partner in the classroom to deliver instruction, assess and track student progress, and effectively communicate with parents.

Responsibilities:

  • Know their students well and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Are responsible for ensuring that all students in the class meet or exceed expected growth
  • Act professionally in all situations
  • Work with their colleagues to develop instruction and monitor student progress
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student needs and student growth
  • Communicate frequently with parents in which both parents and teachers learn from each other in the best interest of the student
  • Effectively team and collaborate with all professionals in order to maximize student progress
  • Regularly and effectively communicate and plan with colleagues
  • Genuinely enjoy being with their students and make the classroom a joyful place
  • Recognize their students’ strengths and contributions to the classroom community
  • Are experts in working with students who struggle with learning and attention challenges and know the best intervention to use given the situation
  • Manage the classroom well —are explicit with student expectations and boundaries and know when and how to intervene to ensure positive results and model exemplary classroom management skills
  • Are skilled in delivering instruction that is developmentally appropriate, as well as direct & explicit, multisensory, appropriately paced as well as structured & systematic
  • Set individual student goals and regularly monitor and track student learning to ensure students are progressing in meeting goals
  • Willing and eager to use technology to support learning, instruction, and productivity
  • Seek out opportunities to grow professionally


Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Special Education certification/credential
  • Teach a classroom of students with learning and attention challenges; create a written weekly planner detailing instruction and class schedule
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of each student’s file and conversations with parents and specialists in order to develop a written personalized learning plan for each student
  • Take time to reflect on instruction and share reflections with teaching partner as appropriate in order to continually deliver effective instruction; note reflections in student’s file as adjustments and interventions are implemented
  • Formally and informally assess each child to fully understand the student’s strengths and challenges; keep written track of these in the student’s file
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the school and CHC in order to deliver effective instruction and ensure students are reaching their learning goals
  • Plan instruction to meet multiple modes of learning (instruction, student expression, and student engagement) as evidenced in a written weekly planner
  • Recognize each student’s strengths and teach to those strengths by creating a written strength-based profile for each student
  • Closely monitors classroom budget
  • Fully participates in all school activities (including parent-ed classes)
  • Attend Sand Hill School and CHC-identified special events and activities
  • Participate in Parent Visits as assigned
  • Willingly participate in the review/reflection/evaluation process
  • Develop collegiality within and across disciplines at CHC to build rapport and professional collaboration with the larger CHC staff
  • Develop collegial relationships with outside professionals to promote cross referrals
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Salary Range:
$59,387 to $105,204 Annually
  • The starting base pay for this position is as shown above. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
