Social Media Coordinator
Position Summary
Social Media Coordinator is responsible for executing social media campaigns on behalf of the Children’s Aquarium Dallas. Daily tasks will include creating, growing, and maintaining all social media accounts. This position will deliver exemplary service and a unique, engaging and entertaining experience to all our guests via all online platforms. This role will also promote all events, ensure a positive guest experience, and grow online reach to increase visitation.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Content Creation: Create compelling and shareable content tailored to each platform to attract and retain followers. Manage and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent posting and timely responses to audience interactions. Collaborate with marketing and Management to produce engaging digital content that aligns with the Children’s Aquarium Dallas branding, communication, and aesthetic strategies across our social media platforms, with the goal of increasing audience size and engagement.
· Customer Service: Monitors and engages with followers on social media and is proactive in identifying issues or concerns related to our followers. Work closely with all internal and external departments to foster an outstanding and seamless guest experience throughout the aquarium. Provide exemplary service in a professional and courteous manner.
· Trend Analysis: Keeps abreast of industry and social media trends and proactively makes recommendations for improvements leveraging insights to craft content that is both relevant and innovative based on the latest trends.
· Performance Tracking: Monitor the performance of your content using insights and analytics tools to track, refine and optimize content strategies. Utilize social media analytics tools to track and report on key performance metrics, including reach, engagement, and conversion rates.
· Community Education: In collaboration with Animal Care Department, ensure exhibits and programs engage, educate and entertain diverse audiences. Screen social media content to ensure animal welfare and care standards are conveyed, and that messaging is appropriate. Foster relationships with influencers, partners, and industry professionals to amplify our reach and visibility.
· Follows and adheres to established policies and procedures, including but not limited to Employee Handbook, CAD Safety Guidelines and Department Policies.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor's (4-year) degree in advertising, marketing, digital marketing or equivalent.
· 3 years of experience in social media content creation and digital creative development.
· Proven portfolio of successful social media campaigns, digital activations, and/or content pieces.
· Excellent videography and editing skills, with proficiency in third-party video editing software as well as in-app editing tools.
· Strong design skills and comfort working on projects for both print and digital. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva Pro, Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
· A deep understanding of all social media platforms, including trends, user behavior, and content optimization strategies.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with team members and brand partners.
· Demonstrated editing and proofreading skills, with diligence to the rules of grammar, spelling, and style.
· Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver quality content consistently under tight deadlines.
· Familiarity with Mac and Windows, Constant Contact, basic to intermediate HTML and CSS.
· Proficient in website maintenance, with experience in website design or website management a plus.
· Analytical thinker with proficiency in Google analytics and SEO to assess data and improve ROI.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
