Resident Advisor

Job Objective:

To provide oversight to all shelter locations within the CFH continuum. This position is a 32 hour a week full-time role.

Duties:

  • Provide general supervision to families in shelter
  • Oversee and apply shelter community expectations and policies
  • Engage with families and establish a rapport by interactions with residents
  • Discuss house-related issues with shelter operations team to address any concerns or issues with residents
  • Monitor all household supplies and needs; Report all maintenance repair requests in staff log, send service request using Spiceworks software
  • Record all interactions with families, donors, volunteers, and visitors in staff log
  • Assist families with accessing household items such as food, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Turn over vacant rooms as families move out to prepare for new families moving in.
  • Routinely walk hallways and shared living areas of the shelter to ensure safety of residents
  • Monitor surveillance cameras to ensure security of grounds and building
  • Assist callers with locating community resources
  • Assist walk in applicants with making copies of documents and verifying intake applications packets are complete
  • Communication with Shelter Manager to report emergencies
  • Attend All-Staff and Resident Advisor team meetings
  • Participate in on-going trainings as scheduled
  • Document and organize donations
  • Operate from Charlotte Family Housing's Empowerment and Trauma Informed Care model
  • Work at both shelter sites as needed
  • Check in all visitors, donors, staff and residents before allowing entry in to the shelter
  • Perform any other work related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Ability to relate to residents, donors, and visitors
  • Must possess the ability to handle information in a professional and confidential manner
  • Remain on site and awake and alert at all times while on duty
  • Abide by agency confidentiality policy
  • Basic computer literacy, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft One Note
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma with at least one year of work experience in the Human Services Field
  • Available to work holidays
  • This position will require in-person work at various locations (pending health guidelines) and many functions may not be performed remotely. This position must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to starting the position; if unvaccinated must submit proof of COVID test on a weekly basis
