Job Summary:

As the Director of Food Safety and Compliance at Chick-Fil-A, you will be responsible for leading our efforts to maintain the highest standards of food safety and regulatory compliance within our fast-paced restaurant environment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe handling, preparation, and serving of food to our customers while also overseeing equipment maintenance to uphold proper temperatures and operational efficiency. Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to food safety policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as Chick-Fil-A's standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of food preparation and storage areas, equipment, and processes to identify and address potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members on proper food handling, sanitation practices, and hygiene protocols, promoting a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and document temperature logs for all refrigeration and heating equipment, ensuring that food products are stored and cooked at the appropriate temperatures to prevent contamination and ensure quality.
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, refrigerators, and freezers, to ensure optimal performance and adherence to food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including kitchen staff, management, and external vendors, to address food safety concerns, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety and sanitation, incorporating new knowledge and technologies into our operations as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for health department inspections and inquiries, coordinating responses and corrective actions as necessary to maintain compliance and protect our reputation.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to food safety training, equipment maintenance, sanitation schedules, and regulatory compliance records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audit purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Public Health, Environmental Health, or related field required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Food Safety Manager) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food safety management, preferably in the restaurant or food service industry, with a demonstrated track record of success in implementing and maintaining food safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and industry best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant guidelines to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions to improve food safety performance and mitigate risks.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and food safety software systems.
