Description

The Manager of Volunteer Engagement is an essential member of our volunteer support function. This position oversees a variety of activities that support all of the CAC volunteers who give our tours, work with our youth/students, facilitate discussions in our exhibit spaces, and engage with our guests. This position will report to the Director of Volunteer Services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview and accept applicants for volunteer positions.
• Supervises volunteers and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions. 
• Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operations, to include guest experience areas, exhibits and education, tours, and special events. 
• Conduct and provide logistical support for volunteer orientations and trainings. 
• Train administrative volunteer staff as needed on volunteer software. 
• Manage weekly communications to volunteers.
• Supervise the daily tasks of the administrative volunteer staff. 
• Write and edit content for the volunteer website.
• In coordination with the Director of Volunteer Services, develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service. 
• Participate in volunteer recognition programs, special events as needed, including weekend and evenings.
• Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation. 
• Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers. 
• Train volunteers to use office and specialized equipment when appropriate.
• Create and manage public and private River Cruise schedule in volunteer database including the mass Season set-up in the first quarter of the year. 
• Create and manage public and private walking tour and bus tour schedules and inventory in volunteer database. 
• Work closely with Operations and Education to adjust schedules to reflect current sales and availability
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be detail oriented and the ability to prioritize tasks 
• Must have excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills for working with large numbers of volunteers
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Teams, Google platform, Wordpress, volunteer software 
• Knowledge of adult education principles and program planning 

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree is required; Majors in non-profit management or museum studies are preferred. 
• 1-3 years working in the field of volunteer administration or related field, with knowledge of motivation, retention, and recognition.
