Responsibilities

The Surgical Patient Care Associate is a multi-skilled staff member who advances through the SPCA training program to become a vital perioperative support team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

1. Applies principles of infection control in the OR using proper standards to clean ORs.

2. Demonstrates knowledge of exposure control policies in preparation and transport of bio hazardous materials.

3. Applies knowledge of correct surgical attire.

4. Assists OR staff with safe transfer and positioning of patients.

5. Delivers specimens linen supplies messages etc to the appropriate location.

6. Assists with obtaining or returning equipment to its proper location.

7. Dons sterile gloves to assist in limb holding during surgical skin asepsis.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

AHA BLS
