Total Number of Openings 1 Applies broad level maintenance and reliability knowledge and expertise across the full spectrum of surface facility maintenance activities, including inspection, troubleshooting, repair and both preventative and predictive maintenance. Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Fixed Equipment Inspector Analyst located in Salt Lake, Utah through May 26 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). Chevron's Salt Lake Refinery is located in the Salt Lake City, UT area. This is a position responsible for State of Utah, American Petroleum Institute, and National Board Inspection Code compliance for the operating equipment/plants as assigned. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of assigned tasks as a member of the Fixed Equipment Reliability/Integrity Team and will participate in the planning and execution of IMPACT turnarounds and pitstops. The candidate will also be required to hold certifications to include API 570, API 510, API 653, NBIC, State of Utah Certificate of Competency, AWS CWI, etc. The position will include travel, alternate work schedules, on-call responsibilities, and additional workday time dependent on plant conditions and assignments. Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to the following: Evaluates factors affecting the safe and reliable operating condition of the fixed equipment in assigned process units. Performs inspection of equipment, issues recommendations for repair and documents results in an electronic database. Creates, organizes, and executes on-stream and turnaround surveillance/inspection plans. Maintains compliance with company policies and applicable industry codes and standards to assure mechanical integrity and reliable operation including quality management of inspection, fabrication, and metallurgy information. Implements requirements of a mechanical integrity program through development and maintenance of equipment inspection strategies for fired and unfired boilers, process heaters, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressure safety/relief valves/devices and piping. Proactively monitors effectiveness of established strategies and develops and executes recovery gap closure plans. Identifies, analyzes and solves issues related to repeat failures or threats to mechanical integrity. Participates in failure analysis to determine root cause and help develop long-term solutions to prevent failures. Consistently communicates with Operations, Maintenance, Process Safety, Environmental and Engineering personnel to ensure stakeholder engagement and multifunctional discipline problem solving. Possesses the ability to analyze data, calculate corrosion rates, predict remaining life, and determine damage/failure mechanisms for process equipment, piping, and tanks. Requires the use of Risk Based Inspection methodologies and knowledge of industry recognized codes and standards. Requires computer skills (Microsoft Office, Meridium, Maximo, etc.) needed to maintain the Refinery electronic condition monitoring and historical database and report findings and resolutions. Periodically requires working beyond the typical 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays. Periodically requires alternate work schedules (shift work) and on-call coverage as part of an integrated response team. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. 5 years prior experience working in the petrochemical industry. A current API 510, 570 and 653 certifications. Candidates that do not hold the required certification(s) will be considered and continued employment will be dependent on achievement of the required certification within 1 year of employment. NBIC IS certification required to be obtained at hiring. Must have valid driverĀ“s license. Preferred Qualifications: Associates or higher degree in technology, engineering, or science. Knowledge of industry recognized condition monitoring programs. ASNT TC 1A NDE Certification in UT, MT, PT and RT film interpretation. Experience in Risk Based Inspection development and deployment.
