SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

The Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, backup, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to the company’s infrastructure. This position often participates in technology related research and ensures operation of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and connectivity to serve the company’s end-users. Furthermore, the individual provides guidance to the Help Desk personnel and assists with daily help desk functionality to support the company’s end-user technical issues and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administration of the following information technology systems – but not limited to.
  • Server and Workstation Hardware
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop/Server Operating Systems
  • Printer and Label equipment
  • Backup Software
  • Switches / Routers / Wireless / UTM Firewall Devices
  • Enterprise Messaging and Security Applications
  • Perform daily systems monitoring, availability, and backups.
  • Troubleshoot systems issues and work with internal and external IT support.
  • Maintain backup and image documentation, scheduling, and testing
  • Maintain deployment procedures.
  • Deploy and configure server, desktop, network, and peripherals.
  • Deploy and maintain systems updates, patches, and firmware.
  • Assist Help Desk with new employee orientation.
  • Acquire technical equipment, systems, peripherals, and software as needed.
  • Oversee the server room environment’s temperature control system, battery backups, lighting, electrical, and organization.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience of Exchange, Office 365, and Azure AD
  • Knowledge and experience managing with networks: wireless, firewalls, switches, VPN
  • Knowledge and experience working with Active Directory/LDAP and Group Polices
  • Knowledge and experience working with VMWare products: vSAN, vCenter, vSphere
  • Knowledge and experience working with end-point security and other security software and systems.

Education:

1. Bachelor degree with focus on a technical major: Computer Science, MIS

2. Associates degree with focus on Information Technology with 2 years related work experience

3. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare with related work experience

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of information technology administration or systems technician for a small to medium size company.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Kneel and stoop many times a day.
  • Walk long distances throughout offices and warehouse.
  • Must be able to handle a cold server room environment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and interact with many co-workers.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work frequently after business hours and on weekends as needed.
