Job Description
Chesterton Academy of St. George, an independent high school in the Catholic tradition, seeks a talented and dynamic part time choir teacher to join our team starting in the 2024-25 academic year.
Choir at Chesterton Academy is an essential, required course for all students that is designed to introduce young men and women to the rich musical tradition of the Catholic Church.
This position would include teaching choir class periodically during the week, as well as occasional performance responsibilities such as the Mass of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the year, regular concerts, and the annual Chesterton Academy gala.
A candidate should possess either a degree in Music, or demonstrate extensive experience in the field of choral directing and performance.
Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred, as well as experience in and passion for Catholic classical education.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academy participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness.
Faculty members are required to participate in the spiritual life of the school to the greatest degree possible for a part time teacher.
