Freight Supervisor 1

  • Permanent Position
  • 40 hours per week on average

Position Overview: 

  • Assist with Performance Reviews; Order store; work product from the stockroom, onto the sales floor: fill shelves, end-bases, and aisle stacks. Return the unused products to the stockroom in an orderly way to reduce shrink and aid the ordering process. Freight Lead will be responsible for keeping their working areas clean and free of debris. 
  • Answer customers' questions about merchandise and advise customers on merchandise selection. 
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, or sales floor. 
  • Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new or transferred merchandise. 
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, supply rooms, or other areas. 
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, and order tags as needed. 
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 
  • Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles. 
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities. 
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment. 
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors. 
  • Keep aisles and end-bases clean and faced. 
  • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom workers. 
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment. 

Requirements:

  • Handling and Moving Objects — Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things. 
  • Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

  • Controlling Machines and Processes — Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. 
  • Take inventory or examine merchandise to identify items to be reordered or replenished. 
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors. 
  • Order merchandise from suppliers based on available space, merchandise on hand, customer demand, or advertised specials. 
  • Compare merchandise invoices to items actually received to ensure that shipments are correct.
