Bachelor’s degree in public administration or business administration or related field; two years of experience in research, analysis, and local government work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, and prepare data for studies, reports, and make recommendations to the County Administrator, Board of Supervisors, Department Directors, and residents. Ability to provide guidance and direction in developing strategic goals and objectives; ability to effectively interact with citizens, county leadership, and staff; and to maintain confidentiality. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Under general supervision, this position provides professional staff support and conducts research and analysis of information for a ten-member Board-appointed committee (Committee on the Future). Performs work of considerable difficulty to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency and to enhance the long-range planning of the County. In addition, the position will work on community initiatives and special projects; provide administrative support in planning, developing, and implementing Community Engagement department programs; coordinate and arrange meetings and special events as assigned; and support various other office assignments as needed. Perform other work as required.
