Chesterfield County Public Schools is Hiring a Teacher - Pharmacy Technician - Meadowbrook HS 2023-24 Near Richmond, VA

Provides quality instruction, experiences and workplace readiness skills to students enrolled at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center’s Courthouse campus. Work is performed at the professional level and within full compliance of the Virginia Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) competencies for the Pharmacy Technician courses, 8305 and 8306. The instructor/director has responsibility for planning, implementing and evaluating class instruction, laboratory activities and clinical experiences for students.

  • Plans the instructional program; demonstrates skills/competencies, assigns and evaluates student coursework.

  • Administers methods to evaluate student course progress; records progress and issues reports to students, parents and administrators.

  • Teaches content knowledge and related skills, including workplace readiness skills.

  • Provides students the opportunity to participate in the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)

  • Teaches process skills: problem solving, critical thinking, teaming, technical writing and communication related to course content and employment.

  • Teaches application skills through personal networked computers and work-based learning experiences.

  • Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.

  • Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.

  • Uses the curriculum of the school division and/or VDOE to plan daily instructional activities.

  • Performs other work as assigned.

Physical Demands

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear, understand speech and speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly at normal levels indoors and on the telephone. Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a public school technical program. Exposure to potentially hazardous tools and equipment is frequent. Exposure to the potential of electrical shock is likely. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

Working knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction, learning theory and teaching methodologies. Working skill in computer applications. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals for students. Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor budget. Demonstrated ability to provide work direction to others. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other instructional personnel; to communicate instructional goals to others effectively, orally and in writing. Demonstrated skills in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and planning.

Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Three to five years industry experience preferred.Applicants considered for employment must successfully complete the following background investigations/tests:
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal History Investigation
  • State Police Criminal History Investigation
  • Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
  • Tuberculosis Screening/Test
