The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for a secondary emotional support and science teacher within the Gateway Program in our Student Services division. This position is available for the conclusion of the 2021-22 school year, but we are also able to accomodate a start date for the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. This position will be located at TCHS Brandywine in Downingtown, PA at 443 Boot Road.

Qualifications:
Bachelors level degree in education required
Valid PA Special Education Certificate (7-12 or N-12) required; Valid PA Instructional Certificate also required if Special Ed Cert is 7-12
Valid PA Instructional Certificate in Secondary Science required
Experience teaching science preferred
Experience with secondary students preferred
Experience working with children and adolescents with mental health challenges in school, community, or residential setting preferred
Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances required (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject area
Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods
Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior
Support objectives and interventions of the educational program
Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom
Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required
Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students
Salary 2021-2022 School Year:
$52,331 - $84,616 - Instructional I Certification
$54,614- $88,005 - Instructional II Certification
$58,099 - $96,103 - Master's Degree
$60,622 - $99,887 - Master's 15
$61,943 - $101,698 - Master's 30
Placement on the salary scale is determined by previous experience. Salary is pro-rated for days worked in the school year.
Schedule: 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190 days in all subsequent years.
