Under direct supervision, assists MRI and/or CT Technologists in a variety of computerized radiological equipment for diagnostic purposes; and performs related duties as required. Assists in the positioning and care of the patient while in the radiology department.

Major Job Functions:

• Greet and escort patient from reception area.

• Offers explanation of radiological procedure and answers patient’s questions as appropriate.

• Performs venipuncture for administration of contrast media and assist in obtaining informed consent as appropriate.

• Reviews all diagnostic imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are to be communicated to technologist for final approval.

• Prepare patient for appropriate radiological procedure.

• Obtains images, produces film records and backups from desk to storage media, and transfers from desk to workstation.

• Prints film, transfers to storage media and radiologist workstation.

• Maintain Patient Safety Controls

• Carefully review answers to safety questions

• Verbally review with patient allergy questions.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
• Medical Assistant Certification within one year of employment
• 1 year experience
• Maintain current CPR Certification
