The Billing Specialist is responsible for fulfilling a critical role in ensuring that the billing process runs smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. The Billing Specialist ensures that reimbursement is received for services provided to customers and is accountable for efficient billing services.

Responsibilities

• Support the business, technical, and operational needs of the Accounting department in executing the Revenue Cycle. Provides a balanced approach to decision making and systems that considers organization needs, human issues and technology factors while working alongside Sales Team partners and CSRs.
• Ensure that billing processes align with coverage, reimbursement, and billing requirements for each customer.
• Generate billing for each assigned account, working cross-functionally with relevant team members of other departments to prepare invoices accurately and in a timely manner. Send invoices to customers.
• Accurately record and apply receipts from clients in a timely manner.
• Within ERP, create new customer IDs, process invoices, and upon detection of job errors within the billing system, communicate with relevant cross-functional team members to fix the error(s)in the billing system.
• Use reconciliations to create either an Accounts Payable transaction to resolve money owed or create an invoice to send to customers.
• Issue credits to customer credit cards.
• Document current procedures and policies and update as changes are made.
• Develop, makes decisions, and manage appropriate processes and structures to govern the organization’s revenue cycle operations.
• Actively participates in all Revenue Cycle related special projects as well as daily, monthly, and yearly reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of customers and organizational financial and operational data.

Qualifications

• Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle functions and systems.

• Ability to quickly become proficient in organizational software used to input, track, and bill orders.

• Ability to be trusted with sensitive, protected and highly confidential information.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field. Sufficient work /industry experience may substitute for Bachelor’s degree.
• 5 years' experience in billing with exposure to working with integrated billing system, collections, and follow-up.
