JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of a licensed staff member, provide general technological support for school staff and students. Assist with technology lab needs including computers and related equipment. Assist the library specialist as necessary. Monitor students as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.
• Schedule, prepare, and monitor maintenance of the technology lab including equipment storage, distribution, setup, and repair. May include installation of memory chips and network hardware. [Daily, 35%]
• Assist with classes in the technology lab, which may include a variety of projects and assignments. [Daily, 35%]
• Provide support for printers, scanners, LCD displays, cameras, laser discs, mainframe session support, network support, software installation, and system security and passwords. [Daily, 10%]
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance and/or repair of school computers. Collaborate with the Help Desk to identify and coordinate computer repair requests. [Daily, 10%]
• May assist the library specialist by maintaining media equipment and the resource room, performing associated clerical tasks, preparing instructional materials, and working in small groups with students. May include checking books out and in. [Daily, 5%]
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer- and technology-related experience or licensed computer- and technology-related teaching experience.
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of media equipment.
• Intermediate English language skills.
• Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of technology and personal computers.
• Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
• Advanced organizational skills.
• Ability to work alone and with others.
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.
MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
• One (1) year of related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses.
• Associate's degree.
• Experience working in a school district or educational setting.
• Experience working with school age children.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The physical exertion, cognitive capacities, and work environments required to perform a position's duties and responsibilities.
• Heavy physical effort (lifting up to 50 pounds).
