System Administrator IV

As a System Administrator IV at Cherokee Nation Systems Solutions (CNSS) in Charleston, SC, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of IT systems. You will be responsible for installing, upgrading, and maintaining system software, as well as performing data backups and recovery.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for IT/Computer Specialist III: Pay commensurate with experience.

IT/Computer Specialist III Responsibilities Include: 

  • Install new software releases, system upgrades, and patches, ensuring compatibility and adherence to security standards.
  • Evaluate and resolve software-related problems, troubleshooting issues to minimize system downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Perform system backups and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and improvements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization, identifying and addressing issues to optimize system efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Work under general supervision, relying on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while demonstrating a certain degree of creativity and latitude in problem-solving.
  • May lead or direct the work of others, providing guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

IT/Computer Specialist III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in system administration, preferably in a federal agency setting.
  • Strong knowledge of system administration principles, practices, and procedures, with expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT systems.
  • Experience with system backup and recovery processes, including data replication and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring and performance tuning techniques to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of system administration.
  • Professional IT certifications- CSDP, CompTIA
  • Previous experience leading or directing the work of others is desirable.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
