Job Description

CTE Adobe Academy/Programming and Broadcasting Teacher


2023-2024 School Year


Reports to:
Principal


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in area of licensure with two years related work experience

Associate Degree in area of licensure with four years related work experience


Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable)

Must hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Business, Finance and Information Technology Education (License: 760) OR Trade & Industrial Education – Digital Media (License: 740 or 74098). Must hold or willing to obtain 2 of the following Adobe Certified Professional Certificates in: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Dreamweaver, or After Effects.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaches North Carolina Essential Standards for Career and Technical Education assigned courses.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment.
  • Instructs students in proper care and use of materials and equipment storage areas and controls use of materials and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
  • Uses appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance the critical, creative, and innovative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Evaluates each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
  • Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, equipment, etc., and maintains inventory records.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional learning activities.
  • Works collaboratively with students, parents, support staff, administrators, business and industry, and community groups to enhance the training and employment opportunities for students.
  • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • SkillsUSA advisor: Implement and develop SkillsUSA CTE student organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Adobe Creative Cloud, and components used in television production (video cameras, lighting, sound, props, editing, recording).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of students’ growth, development, and learning.
  • Ability to adapt and stay current in technology advancements in software and curriculum.
  • Ability to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Ability to motivate students.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Ability to develop and compile records and reports.
  • Ability to maintain basic files and records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitates by work assignments.
  • Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
