Chemonics International is seeking a Senior Specialist of Diversity and Inclusion. The Senior Diversity and Inclusion Specialist supports the Senior Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director in implementing Chemonics's global diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy to ensure it is integrated into the fabric of Chemonics culture, value, and business model. The Senior Diversity and Inclusion Specialist will primarily be responsible for managing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the Employee Diversity and Inclusion Council. In addition, the Specialist will support the D&I team in creating and delivering initiatives designed to build a culture of inclusion and ensure the long-term sustainability of D&I efforts. The specialist also provides strategic guidance to Chemonics' divisions in the monitoring and evaluation of their divisional work plans. The successful candidate will be a champion for D&I, successfully build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and design and execute creative ways to develop Chemonics's approach to D&I as we continue to scale our efforts.We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day management for Chemonics' Employee Resource Groups, Diversity & Inclusion Council, and other groups in the D&I constellation to ensure activities are streamlined and to advance the team's goals
  • Assists in the design and manages the implementation of programs and initiatives that further Chemonics's D&I strategy and contributes to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Helps lead implementation and operationalization of the D&I strategy and workplan
  • Updates and maintains the D&I Sharepoint site and diversity-related content on Chemonics' external website
  • Provides strategic guidance to Chemonics' divisions in the monitoring and evaluation of their divisional work plans
  • Assists the Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director in supporting training initiatives, planning and delivering awareness building and other events for internal and external audiences
  • Serves as a liaison as directed between the Senior Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director and the Human Resources division, Strategic Communications department, Executive Office, InDepth, GESI practice and other teams
  • Assists in responding appropriately and quickly to requests for support from internal and external clients regarding D&I. Manages communications within the D&I team and communications related to D&I across the Executive Office
  • Monitors the D&I workplan and strategy to ensure goals are met in a timely fashion. Reports on overall progress to ensure that learning and results are utilized to improve D&I programs and processes
  • Assists with diversity analytics, including benchmarking, tracking metrics, analyzing and generating diversity reporting for various audience to highlight trends and demonstrate impact of D&I programs and initiatives
  • Promotes a work environment that is accepting, emphasizes teamwork, a respect for differences, and giving constructive feedback
  • Understands organizational dynamics and actively works to cultivate D&I allies across the organization
  • Serves as acting Senior Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director as necessary. Represents Diversity & Inclusion at Chemonics at internal and external meetings, events, and trainings as needed
  • Exercises and maintains confidentiality of information as it pertains to the organization, diversity initiatives, and senior leadership.
  • Supervises associate(s) and/or administrative assistant(s). Communicates clear performance goals and standards and ensures staff receives regular constructive performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and the time and opportunity to grow and develop in key competency areas

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties.

  • Minimum 5 years of project management and/or technically relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, or job-related field is required. Master of Science or Master of Business Administration a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in diversity and inclusion, including familiarity with key concepts (e.g. cultural competence, unconscious bias, etc.) Practical experience designing and/or implementing D&I programs preferred
  • Demonstrated experience coaching employee resource groups and employee councils, particularly around program and event management, strategy development, and facilitating effective communications with various internal stakeholders
  • Shows a committed and proactive approach to diversity and inclusion and to own personal development in this area
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information and materials with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams, develop presentations and trainings for small to large audiences, and facilitate team discussions
  • Experience creating and managing project plans to support effective implementation of programs and initiatives
  • Experience coordinating events, managing logistics, identifying speakers, and developing agendas/materials
  • Knowledge of international development and experience living or working in developing countries preferred
  • English proficiency required; foreign language skills in Spanish, French, Arabic a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $84,320 - $105,400.

An employee's pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
