The application deadline for this role will be 05/18/2024. The Applications Specialist is a critical member of our laboratory team, responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient sample processing. This role involves hands-on sample preparation, analysis, data collection, and reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Laboratory team, adapt to changing testing schedules, and maintain a strong focus on safety and quality. Key Responsibilities: Perform daily sample preparation and analysis using modern instrumental and wet chemical techniques. Expertise in at least one of the following analytical techniques: XRD, XRF, SEM, ICP, IC, BET, TGA/DTA, or other inorganic characterization methods. Interpret analytical data and report findings. Conduct equipment calibration to ensure the validity of test results. Participate in round-robin activities. Maintain primary equipment in optimal operating condition. Adapt to changing workflows and prioritize tasks effectively. Develop new test procedures and protocols with creativity. Engage with internal customers to understand their questions or issues. Adhere to laboratory health, safety, and environmental guidelines. Complete required paperwork and mathematical assignments in a scientific format. Conduct routine maintenance on analytical equipment. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Materials Science, or related field. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent written, reading, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Physical capability to perform assigned tasks, including lifting to 50 pounds. Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed. General Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to perform work assigned. Capable of accessing all plant/site locations. Perform actions including standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting from time to time. Able to lift to 50 pounds. Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions. Exposure to industrial high temperature, noise, and dust. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and metallic particles. Travel Requirements: Must be able to travel up to 25% as needed or directed by leadership.
