Role & Responsibilities
The Personal Training Director (PTD) of Chelsea Piers Fitness will manage all aspects of the Personal Training Departments at our Chelsea, Downtown Brooklyn, and Prospect Heights clubs. The Personal Training Director will be successful by maintaining a fully staffed training department that is sales driven and committed to offering the best-in-class training experience to our members. Responsibilities of the role fall in to three primary categories:
People Management of Personal Trainers (50%)
Sales (30%)
Training and Development (20%)
People Management
Serve as direct manager to all Personal Trainers across Chelsea (20 trainers), Downtown Brooklyn (15 trainers), Prospect Heights (15 trainers) and Flatiron (opening August 2024) clubs
Coach and motivate all Personal Trainers to achieve individual & team KPIs
Host monthly team meetings to support Personal Trainer development and share relevant company updates
Conduct continuous performance management to maximize trainer potential
Review and approve Bi-Weekly payroll for all Personal Trainers, managing floor hours and timecards
Determine and maintain appropriate staffing levels at each location
Sales:
Coach Personal Trainers on best sales practices to increase conversion rates, client retention, and referrals
Work with sales team to ensure smooth transition of a member from membership sales to training
Lead sales coaching seminars to help Personal Trainers close leads and grow their book of business
Develop a new club launch strategy including pre-sales outreach
Ability to leverage data to ask questions and drive performance
Implement creative initiatives and promotions to generate new training business while maintaining high margins
Partner with management to develop systems that allow the expansion of PT department via innovative and new product offerings
Training and Development:
Monitor the quality of training sessions provided by all Personal Trainers to ensure that trainers deliver best-in-class service to clients
Facilitate the hiring of all new Personal Trainers:
Coordinating & conducting phone screens, interviews, demo training session
Facilitate the successful onboarding of all new Personal Trainers:
Create detailed 90-Day plan for all new Personal Trainers to build book of business
Meet weekly with new hires to track progress against 90-Day plan
Develop a recruiting pipeline to ensure a fully staffed Personal Training department at all times
Deliver in-club workshops and ongoing education to support the development of personal trainers
Ensure all new Personal Trainers can properly complete InBody, FMS and any future evaluation tools
KPIs:
Analyze and understand Personal Training KPIs
Achieve and exceed Personal Training Team monthly and annual KPIs including:
Sales Revenue
Paid Sessions Redeemed
Complimentary Sessions Redeemed
Comp-to-Close %
Penetration %
Client Retention %
