Cheder Menachem is Hiring a School Custodian Near Barre, PA
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
- Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances.
- Perform maintenance, minor repairs and other handyman activities (replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture etc.)
- Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Open and inspect the premises at the start of each day.
- Reports needs, concerns or damages to the building administrator, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
- Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
- May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to the building administrator..
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs/tables etc.)
- Assist with unloading and stocking supply deliveries.
- Set up for school events.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices.
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
- Very good physical condition and strength.
- Must have a valid SSN.
- Must have a driver's license and own a vehicle.
- Must obtain PA Criminal Records Check.
- Must obtain Federal Criminal History Record Information. (CHRI)
- Must obtain Child Abuse History Clearance.
- Must obtain National Sex Offender Registry Verification.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
