Job Responsibilities

• Opens building; inspects boiler/standpipe/fire alarm systems (maintains necessary certificates for these systems)
• Keeps building/ground clean, neat, and safe at all times.
• Perform routine daily cleaning tasks (sweep, mop, dust desks/woodwork, order supplies); perform summer cleaning (wax and buffer floors, order furniture and other equipment, wash/paint walls and windows)
• Clean and mop lavatories, cafeteria and gym locker rooms and replace soap and towels
• Empty wastebaskets and collect/ dispose refuse
• Set-up/break-down chairs, tables and other furniture or equipment as requested
• Complete handyman/maintenance repairs
• Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the school office.

Required Knowledge

• Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and the ability to use them economically and efficiently
• Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of heating systems and fire alarms including possessing these certificates:
• Category S-95: Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm and other related systems
• Category S-13: Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Standpipe Systems Operator
• Category P-99: Certificate of Fitness for Gas Fired Low Pressure Steam Boiler Operator
• Asbestos Training
• Must pass the Archdiocese of NY background check and participate in Virtus (Safe Environment Program) training.

Very good physical condition and strength. School is a 4 story building with no elevator.
