Position Data:
Title: Family Engagement Specialist
Grade: E-7 Exempt Non-Exempt X
Reports to: Center Director
Basic Function or Position Summary:
Develop and coordinate family events and volunteer opportunities for families using childcare services. Assist families in helping children transition to kindergarten and participate in recruitment and outreach efforts. Hours per week 35: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Salary $16.83/hourly
Security Clearance: Lv. 1 V, A, C, R
Requirements
Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
• Works with team on PR and recruitment strategies; community relations
• Support relationships with strategic partners in the community benefitting Head Start
and Early Head Start customers.
• Recruitment for Early Education services and provide documentation and tracking
recruitment activities.
• Promote and educate on benefits for holistic, asset-focused services
• Provide service orientations for families as assigned: including packet development, distribution, tracking and reporting.
• Coordinate community and family events and activities to include target goals.
• Facilitate Parent committee aligned with family outcomes.
• Ensure implementation of strength based – family development philosophy engagement activities that are integrated with the
curriculum.
• Coordinate volunteer opportunities as the child care center.
• Facilitate family and child connections when transitioning from one classroom to another and from program to kindergarten.
• Identify families in need of individualized assistance; provide appropriate referral for services and assist in the development of
Family Development Plans for assigned case load
• Maintain awareness of community resources; make appropriate referrals as needed with follow-up
• Regularly assess, monitor and report customer progress toward individual goal and outcome achievement along with the
continuums.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all customer service activity and ensure that customer records are complete
and accurate; maintains consistent professional customer service.
• Maintain knowledge and complies with regulations, policies, and procedures
• Promotes agency wide integrated service delivery strategies while promoting self-sufficiency.
• Fosters service delivery in alignment with COI continuums of care that promotes economic security an asset-based strategies
• Foster positive relationships with peers, staff, and community partners.
• Maintains professional boundaries, performance, confidentiality, and complies with the code of ethics.
• Facilitates and participates in meetings as designated.
• Participates in the larger team of the agency through committee structures, planning,
policy development and volunteerism.
• Review and double-check in-kinds from opposite end of the county; collate, batch,
and total
• Complies CQI report surveys
• Collate and distributes the take home activities
• Providing support in classroom for ratio if necessary
• Promotes agency mission.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Organizational Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills Required:
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services or Education
• Public speaking
• Event planning
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Special Requirements:
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel
• Willing to travel and work flexible hours
• Ability to obtain and maintain initial health physical and TB test.
• Completes all OCFS requirements.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Works compassionately with diverse population
• Experience navigating community programs.
