Evening Custodian
Location: Clark Elementary
Reports to: Head Custodian
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public. The custodian also is responsible for providing equipment and furniture for reserved meetings, classroom activities and events as well as minimizing property damages, loss and liability exposure.
Essential Functions:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Performing multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions; operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; knowledge of basic math skills including calculations using fractions, percents and/or ratios; excellent written and oral communication; ability to read and understand routine documents; understand complex, multi-step instructions; knowledge of methods of industrial cleaning, safety practices and procedures; ability to schedule activities, collate data, consider a number of factors when using equipment; flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods; utilize a variety of job-related equipment; problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans and for use of equipment; ability to adapt to changing work priorities; communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules, work as part of a team, work with constant interruptions
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous job-related experience is preferred.
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands including significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job required 10% sitting, 30% walking, and 60% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
Evaluation:
The Custodian is evaluated by the Supervisor of Operations, Safety and Facilities.
Contract Length:
12 months/260 days. Some positions may have a different contract length and will be discussed during the hiring process.
