Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools is Hiring an Assistant, Pre-K Exceptional Children (24-25) Near Charlotte, NC

Summary: Assists the teacher or principal by helping students to achieve the standards and objectives of excellence as set by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Works cooperatively with the principal and teacher in providing a classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional programs and available resource materials.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

  • Assists in the instruction of individual students or groups of students in all curricular areas as directed by the teacher.
  • Plans and works with the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing skills and concepts based on the understanding of individual students-their needs interests, and abilities.
  • Operates and cares for equipment and materials for instructional purposes.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, emergency drills, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Interact and have conversations with children during outside, meal and center times
  • Interact positively with children, parents, and colleagues and facilitate positive interactions among children
  • Collaborate and share ideas and strategies with other team members
  • Facilitate children's efforts to be self-managing
  • Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  • Participates in in-service training programs for professional growth.
  • Assists with school routines and transitions.
  • Assists in checking materials and portfolios, supervising and assessing students as directed by the teacher.
  • Assists with student attendance procedures, record keeping, collecting money, ordering materials, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assists in keeping classroom learning centers c
  • Participates in the daily bus car, and van transportation duties involving children's arrival and departure to and from school.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
