Description

Charlotte Latin School is looking for caring and energetic afternoon substitute teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. The Extended Day substitute teachers will assist, lead and supervise the daily activities of the after school program on an as needed basis. Hours will vary, but range from 1:00pm-3:30pm or 3:30pm-6:00 pm. There will also be opportunities to substitute on certain teacher workdays. These hours can range from 7:30am-6:00pm.

The After-school substitute will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to the following:

• Maintain good classroom management
• Assist other teachers with preparing daily classroom duties
• Help collect daily attendance
• Implement the lesson plan and partner with students in arts, crafts and other creative activities (outlined by absent teacher)
• Implement as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the after-school program
• Lead and participate in outdoor and indoor games
• Walk students to and from various locations on campus
• Assist and guide students with homework assignments
• Prepare and serve snacks to students
• Assist with carpool or bus duty
• Serve as a positive role model for students
• Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, parents, and members of staff
• Leave a written note to absent teacher summarizing the day and any related student/parent concerns

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience working with school-age children. He/she will be comfortable working with any age group within that range. He/she must have an understanding of age appropriate activities. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, and a collaborative co-worker with parents, faculty and staff, as well as have a sincere desire to work with children in a nurturing an engaging environment.
