Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Health System is Hiring an Angiography Tech Level 2 -- Lab CDL -- Heart & Vascular Center Near Charleston, WV

Job Summary

Provide clearly defined angiography studies for use by the Physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patient illness.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs all vascular imaging procedures. Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedures assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Prepare patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Select and operate medical imaging equipment of choice. Position patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Immobilize patient as required for appropriate examination. Apply principles of radiation protection, when appropriate, to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Assists in meeting departmental radiation safety guidelines. Verify informed consent for diagnostic and/or interventional procedures. Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Assist licensed practitioners during catherization procedures, biopsies, etc. applying appropriate aseptic surgical techniques. In agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, prepare, identify and/or administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Prepare, operate, and care for equipment and other technical instruments u used for administration of contrast agents, patient monitoring, and surgical intervention. Evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Assists in the evaluation of images performed by others and provides feedback for improvement as needed. Produce hard copy records of procedures using radiographic film, video, photographs, and/or other appropriate media. Perform digital imaging techniques when necessary. Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate. Removal of sheaths/angiography procedural catheters, holding of pressure on puncture site & watches for bleeding/ hematoma as it relates to intravascular or angiographic studies with appropriate education. Properly and accurately prepare instruments and accessories for procedures. Practice aseptic and sterile techniques. Prepare the special area for the procedure with proper instruments and equipment. • Provide patient education. • Assist in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality and established policy. • Assume responsibility for assigned area and report equipment malfunctions • Provide practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals. Assists with development and implementation of competency based orientation program and annual required evaluation. • Participate in the department's quality improvement plan. Responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area. May assign others to complete QI duties. • Responsible for inventory and control of specific angiography items such as, catheters, guidewires, interventional sets, etc. in work area. Purchases supplies for the area of responsibility. • Maintain a knowledge of sterile supplies and techniques utilized for procedures in the area of responsibility. • Pursue appropriate continuing education. • Maintain appropriate knowledge of and observe Universal precautions. • Maintain appropriate knowledge to recognize anatomical structures via computer generated system on a CRT or those produced by an image intensifier and displayed on a TV monitor. • Understand and apply patient relations skills. • Perform angiography procedures at a technical level under the direction of a physician. • Participates in clinical research trials. • Functions as role model and group leader. • Independently identifies and resolves problems and assists others. • Perform temporary lead technologist duties. • Serves on committees and participates in development and implementation on projects and programs as assigned.
