Charles B. Wang Community Health Center is Hiring a Patient Services Representative - Pediatrics - Queens Near Flushing, NY

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a welcoming, attentive, positive and confidential patient experience from the first encounter, whether it is by phone or in-person
    • Remain well-informed about the Health Center to orient patients and families to the Health Center’s services, and promote services and benefits as appropriate
    • Monitor incoming patients and the waiting area to assess patient needs and wait times, assisting as needed
    • Ensure reception and waiting area neat and tidy at all times
  • Complete and update patient registration in a timely and courteous manner
    • Interview and register new patients, accurately and completely
    • Provide patients/families with information about Patient’s Bill of Rights, Notice of Privacy Practices and other policies and procedures
    • Verify insurance eligibility and address insurance questions and concerns
    • Perform sliding fee scale assessment and determine fee charges for self-pay and underinsured patients
  • Optimize provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
  • Effective teamwork, communication and collaboration as part of practice-wide care team
    • Direct phone calls/inquires to appropriate department/personnel and/or take phone messages
    • Work closely with clinical team to ensure smooth patient workflow, including assistance with check-out and referral management as needed
    • Demonstrate curiosity and understanding of process workflows, healthcare team needs, and patient experience
    • Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport and participating in team problem-solving
    • Adapt to changes in practice operations, workflows and patient needs as they emerge
  • Perform other unit specific duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 2 years of work experience
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Chinese
  • Reception or customer service experience preferred
  • Typing or computer knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Good problem solving skills, inquisitive and interest in learning all aspects of the practice

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $40,000.00 - 45,000.00 per year
