Changing Lives at Home Mental Health is Hiring a Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC) Near Baltimore, MD

Type of Position: Fee For Service (FSS) 1099 Contractor : (8 ) billable hours per week minimum.

Program Function: The Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor will work in a multidisciplinary team environment, providing frontline care to consumers in the IOP, OP and PHP programs. This position is accountable for assisting clients in the development and maintenance of healthy lifestyles and recovery management skills. This position requires a thorough understanding of the organization’s philosophy of treatment, admission process, discharge criteria and aftercare services. Extensive knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is essential. This position is responsible for ensuring that clinical and administrative services are provided for all consumers in accordance with government and accreditation regulations.

Essential Duties: This position will be a member of the multidisciplinary team and has the responsibility to carry out rehabilitation and support functions and assist in treatment; substance abuse services, education support and consultation to the persons served.

  • Maintains a caseload as assigned and in accordance with COMAR regulations and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Ensures incoming clients have a complete psycho-social history and comprehensive assessment and interpretative summary
  • Prepares, with client participation, a Comprehensive Treatment Plan for all persons served
  • Completes a Treatment Plan Update/Review in accordance with applicable federal and state standards as well as agency policies and procedures
  • Performs individual counseling with clients and emergency intervention
  • Performs Group counseling
  • Documents client progress and all interventions in the client's record.
  • Prepares an aftercare plan for all persons served completing the program or being discharged for other reasons.
  • Completes discharge summaries for assigned caseload within time allotted per State regulations.
  • Provides coordination of care of health, housing and community services according to the Treatment Plan and individual need.
  • Ensures the completion of client caseloads, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state standards as well as agency policies and procedures
  • Keeps all client files updated in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Counsels clients in crisis situations by identifying client resources and coping abilities in order to help client cope with and take steps to resolve crisis
  • Arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate
  • Performs treatment plan reviews in a timely manner as required by state and agency

WORK SCHEDULE: The Psychotherapist sets their own schedule to render contract services to the program. It is suggested that the services are rendered during the times and days the office is open for administrative support and when the clients being serviced are most active; which are Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Clients are available to be seen on the weekends if you choose to schedule in advanced.

Experience: 

  • Master’s degree or higher in a health or human services counseling field.
  • Must be a LGADC, LCADC or licensed therapist by the state of Maryland.
  • Must have experience in substance use disorder treatment (preferably 2 years).
