The Standby Generator Technician – Phone Support plays a crucial role in ensuring that the power generation system operates efficiently and reliably.

Essential Functions 

· Diagnose and repair mechanical issues within generator systems, such as failures in starting, operating inefficiencies, or unexpected shutdowns.

· Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.

· Provide knowledge of automatic transfer switches and control logic. 

· Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of generator systems 8.5KW through 22 KW.

· Validate that fuel pressure and fuel delivery piping volume are correct for NG and LPG-fueled engines.

· Commission newly installed generators to verify their performance and adherence to specifications.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills 

· Ability to follow instructions to conduct engine/generator tear-downs.

· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

· Willingness to continuously develop technical skills.

· Proficient in Windows-based systems including Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience  

· A relevant degree such as High School or Trade School

· 5 years of hands-on experience working on electrical generator systems

· Experience with power generators and automatic transfer switches or a transferable industry. 

· Experience with electrical motors, electrical testing, and mechanical inspection.

· Bilingual Spanish or French a plus.
