Location: Lombard, IL (Hybrid – 1-3 days onsite per week)

Chamberlain Advisors is currently seeking a New Business Specialist for our direct client in the highly competitive insurance and financial products industry. This is an 8-month contract with possible extensions. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage the new case submission process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of sold case paperwork, and coordinate with various stakeholders, including sales management, brokers, and underwriting, to resolve issues, assess risk, and maintain compliance with company policies and industry standards. Summary
This position is responsible for the new case submission process and review of sold case paperwork for completeness and accuracy in order to release the Acceptance of Risk for new business. This position is responsible for providing front-end new group business sales activity, ensuring proper coordination with sales management, organization representatives, organization agency managers, brokers, and managing general agents, and other partners.
This position is also responsible for resolving escalated issues, interacting with Underwriting to mediate risk, and assist with projects, initiatives or process reviews. Responsible for assessing risk and communicating findings with underwriting; setting up proper documentation and notifications to our reinsurers and the reinsurance department. Responsible for acting as a liaison between marketing, underwriting and policy issue coders; verifying rates for accuracy with applicable commission levels and discounts, identifying sub types for commissions for specific products and knowing when to communicate with commissions to establish new sub-types; validating broker licensing and appointment. Responsible for audit pricing discounts taken by Marketing to ensure compliance with MARS controls.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Background in insurance and/or marketing/sales support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
What You Will Be Accountable For
  • Process sold case paperwork for new business, in compliance and according to policies and procedures.
  • Serve as liaison between sales management, organization representatives, organization agency managers, brokers, and managing general agents, and other partners.
  • Maintain proper marketing discounts have been applied to rates based on guidelines provided by underwriting.
  • Mentor new employees and maintain process documentation to ensure processes and procedures are most current.
  • Maintain knowledge of all underwriting and product concepts associated with all market segments to identify deviations and assists in risk assessment resolutions of problems that affect administration. This includes identifying members that are eligible for Grandfathering and Evidence of Insurability based on participation guidelines. This also includes identifying groups that are eligible for open enrollment based on set parameters.
  • Process all group cases by verifying sold case paperwork is consistent with sold proposal matching plan design, products, provisions, and rates.
  • Generate reports to assist the team with managing inventory and turnaround standards.
  • Assist Marketing/Sales representatives with implementation of new groups, as well as new lines of coverage on existing groups.
  • Maintain knowledge of contracts and the full range of benefits to handle administrative functions associated with the issuance of all our products.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating all departmental procedures regarding new issue procedures for general or specific reference, including, communicating with other organizational departments.

  • Audit pricing discounts taken by Marketing to ensure compliance with MARS controls.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
  • Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.
What Qualifications You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of insurance experience OR HS Diploma/Associate’s degree and 6 years of insurance, marketing or sales support experience.
  • Knowledge of sales processing and underwriting concepts.
  • Solid customer service skills. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • PC proficiency including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational and analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
  • Experience meeting tight deadlines. Strong Organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of ancillary employee benefits products and their contracts.
  • LOMA certification.
