Job Summary:

An experienced electrical technician to evaluate, assemble, maintain electrical and control systems in nonwovens production and other related equipment. The electrical technician does not design electrical systems but will identify potential problems in design.

To be successful as an electrical technician, you should be able to read electrical system design plans and recommend improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop, implement and administer occupational safety and health management systems in accordance with local legal standards as well as the company's HSE standards.
  • Give advice to site management and staff on current and proposed OH&S legislative and practice requirements.
  • Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
  • Constructing and fabricating parts, using hand tools and specifications.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Advising management on continued use of unsuitable equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
  • Ordering of electrical supplies and equipment.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Strong individual with leadership skills capable of functioning in a team environment and possess interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of Management
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively and meet objectives without detailed day-to-day direction
  • Must be highly organized, disciplined, and have the ability to effectively prioritize, balance multiple projects and processes, and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of OSHA/EPA requirements
  • Proficient Microsoft 2000 Office skills (Word, Excel)
  • Electrical, technical, or related degree.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship.
  • At least 2 years' experience as an electrical technician.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools, soldering and fault-testing equipment.
  • Maintain up to date physical and digital electrical documentation, drawings, and manuals
  • Maintain up to date physical and digital drive and PLC programs
  • Ensure that the site has the appropriate and necessary electrical spare parts and components, and coordinate with stock room supervisor as needed
  • Identify obsolete electrical components and develop replacement plans
  • Identify and execute on improvement projects to improve safety, reliability, or business continuity
  • Conduct audits on electrical and controls safety
  • Provide resources and training to the maintenance technicians to assist with troubleshooting and addressing electrical and controls problems
  • Interface with OEMs regarding controls or software issues, modifications, upgrades
  • Take after work calls to assist maintenance technicians as needed
