Cerebral Palsy of Westchester is Hiring a Registered Nurse- Residential Program Near White Plains, NY

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Department: Residential Programs

Reports To: Director of Nursing Services for Residential Programs

FLSA: Exempt

Hours: Full Time, Flex hours

Hours may vary due to nature of the position.

SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for ensuring that medical quality services are provided to all residential program participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Conducts and documents medical and nursing services as required by OPWDD regulations and CP/W policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper storage and maintenance of medications.
  • Coordinates with the Residence Physician and schedules mandated evaluations.
  • Assesses and schedules the need for other periodic evaluations.
  • Reviews all medical records for compliance for prescribe protocols.
  • Prepares and presents a written report at the Quarterly and Annual Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
  • Acts as a liaison concerning medical issues with consulting physicians, parents/family, Day Program, Emergency Room, Residence Manager and other Interdisciplinary Team Members.
  • Conducts required nursing in-services.
  • Advises the Director of Nursing Services about necessary changes in medical status of Program Participants.
  • Participates as a member of committees as assigned by CP/Westchester administration.
  • Teach the AMAP course; participate in all department internal audits.
  • Twenty four hours on call Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays per nursing on call schedule.
  • Other additional nursing responsibilities as required by the CP/Westchester administration.

JOB REQUIRMENTS:

  • Knowledge of the program planning process and a good understanding of human dynamics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Intermediate Care Facilities for the developmentally disabled.
  • A strong ability to work independently and to use common sense in work situations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft word, Excel, email and the ability to complete and file assigned paperwork.
  • Off-hours (evenings, holidays, and weekends) on-call flexibility to carry a pager/cell phone to address medical needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Maintains a current License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working with the developmentally disabled and/or dual diagnosed population within a residential setting.
