Centura Wealth Advisory is Hiring a Vice President of Financial Planning Near San Diego, CA

Centura Wealth Advisory is seeking a VP of Financial Planning to be a key member of our Leadership and Planning team, overseeing client financial planning as part of our Liberated Wealth® process. Key elements include: income tax and, wealth transfer tax planning & leveraging insurance solutions. Centura is a fast-growing boutique RIA serving both ultra-high net-worth individuals/families. We hire optimistic, resourceful, result-oriented, and adaptable people with the desire to help our clients, their teammates, and themselves succeed.

The VP of Financial Planning is responsible for leading the financial planning team, driving initiatives across the firm, and developing value-creating, innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Success Factors:

  • Lead a growing team of planners, consultants, and technical specialists in financial planning, tax and estate/trust specialties.
  • Run a multi-million-dollar consulting practice through successful engagements (annual, and discovery) with UHNW clients and prospects.
  • Manage numerous client projects to ensure quality delivery, process consistency, and value-add to client’s estates.
  • Develop and track KPIs in Salesforce and OKRs Profit
  • Enhance and improve the Planning team members’ capability.
  • Be a thought leader by staying abreast of significant changes or developments (e.g., taxation and tax law, estate planning, retirement planning, regulatory, legal, charitable giving, insurance and technical) within the fields of investments, insurance and financial services at large. Serve as a technical resource to the firm, advisors, and to clients in financial planning concepts and strategies.
  • Be able to competently analyze tax and wealth management strategies as well as cashflow and portfolio plans to derive exponential results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning team, advisor teams, and clients through our Liberated Wealth® process to serve client needs and solutions, creating superior strategies and tactics that drive better client outcomes.
  • Ability to attract and retain talent as well as provide thought leadership on financial planning (press, conferences, seminars, etc.)
  • Ability to scale the department by designing and implementing process, treating the Financial Department as a business.
  • Manage and direct the firm’s financial planning experience (and process) to deliver superior plans to clients and prospects. Superior plans are measured by tax savings, wealth enhancement and risk management.
  • Leverage technology tools such as Hidden Levers, Tiger Tables, Planner CS, Microsoft Excel, and Right Capital to model plans.
  • Effectively evaluate client situations, analyze their needs, and develop a strategy to produce superior results
  • Manage client planning projects and deliverables in Salesforce, updating campaigns from start to end and communicating the status with the team and clients.
  • Leverage insurance and estate planning expertise to focus on estate planning strategies and plan designs with insurance.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Financial Analysis & Modeling - Able to prepare comprehensive financial plans using advanced modeling of financial plans including taxable and non-taxable estate trusts, income tax mitigation strategies, wealth transfer strategies, and investment strategies in both industry software as well as excel.
  • Organization – Needs to be accurate, highly detail oriented, organized, and able to prioritize time management to perform assigned work. Manages team’s objectives, annual plans, and client deliverables efficiently.
  • Presentation – Able to prepare and present high-quality client deliverables in MS Office – including PowerPoint, excel, and word.
  • Personnel Management - Interpersonal skills – Able to source, grow and develop a team. Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, and politeness to others and relates well to different people from various backgrounds and different situations.
  • Communication – Highly effective communicator with internal stakeholders as well as UHNW clients and prospects.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, ERISA, Dodd-Frank, SEC rules and other relevant regulations and laws.

Licensing & Education:

  • Undergraduate degree – Required
  • Certified Financial Planning “CFP” designation or equivalent
  • MBA, JD, LLM, CPA (Preferred)

Experience:

  • 10 Years financial planning experience (Income Tax, Retirement & Estate Planning) ideally working with High Net-Worth and Ultra High-Net Worth clients
  • 5 Years leading a department and achieving measurable results in terms of growth, efficiency, etc.
  • Proficient with the following software programs
    • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel (Advanced), Power Point, Visio, etc.) – Required
    • Right Capital – Required
    • Orion - Highly Preferred
    • Salesforce – Required
    • Hidden Levers – Preferred
    • Custodial Platforms – Veo, SAC, Fusion – Preferred
  • Experience in building a professional (COI) network
