• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for NursingAccrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate NursingEducation (CCNE).

Experience:

• Three years of experience in nursing as identified in the TO after graduation.
• Must have experience in providing direct patient care, patient and staffeducation, administration, and/or research.
• HCW shall have 12 months of experience within the last 36 months onprofessional care theories, principles, practices, standards, and procedures toprovide comprehensive primary care to a select population of essentially healthywomen and/or their babies in a variety of settings to include obstetricalantepartum or intrapartum management, postpartum care, gynecologic care,lactation services, and immediate newborn care.
• Knowledgeable on professional care theories, principles, practices,standards and procedures to provide comprehensive primary care to aselect population of essentially healthy women and/or their babies in avariety of settings to include obstetrical antepartum or intrapartummanagement, postpartum care, gynecologic care and immediate newborncare.
• Knowledgeable on growth, development, and pathophysiology of diseaseprocesses specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population toinclude all ages of the spectrum from neonate to geriatrics.
• Knowledgeable of a wide range of medical disorders to include sickle cellanemia, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, thyroid disorders,hypertension, and cardiac disease among others and their potential impact onperinatal outcomes, as well as broad knowledge of normal deliveryvariations, their complications and indicated therapeutic interventionrequired.
• Knowledgeable of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, toinclude desired effects, side effects, and complications/contraindicationsfor their use. Demonstrate ability to administer pharmacologic agents andaccurately compute dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of theadministrative requirements for proper documentation of patient'scondition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, andfollow up care.
• Knowledgeable on computer operations and proficiency in the use of basicword processing, data entry and automated medical records.
• Skilled in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medicalequipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKGunits, oxygen analyzers, suction equipment, nebulizers, and other unitspecific equipment.

Job Responsibilities. 

• Performs professional nursing duties in the care of ambulatory OB/Gyn patients includingthose with normal pregnancies as well as gynecological problems. Serves as initial healthcare professional point of contact for patients entering into obstetric service and isresponsible for working with providers to identify at-risk patients. Performs independent,comprehensive triage, telephonically, face to face, and via secure messaging to assess theseverity of the patient’s condition and the need for provider intervention.
• Uses electronic medical record (such as Genesis) to document the patient encounter.
• Provides instructions to patients relevant to health maintenance, birth control, prenatalregistrations, pregnancy class, etc.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitatethe achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all establishedpolicies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.

• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.

• Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skilllevel of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
