Central States Funds is Hiring a Cybersecurity Analyst Near Chicago, IL

Overview

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to complement our growing Cybersecurity team. You will serve as a member of a team tasked to protect the organization’s digital data and information assets, leveraging industry-leading solutions and best practices. Upon becoming operationally efficient using the technologies and processes deployed by our teams, you will monitor our computing environment for security issues, investigate alerts, and partner with peers to resolve issues and remediate vulnerabilities. Additionally, as a member of the Cybersecurity team you will collaborate with team members on driving information security program maturity efforts, improving user cybersecurity awareness, and supporting other security-related initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial team contact to triage security-related issues reported to the Service Desk
  • Assist with cybersecurity breach/incident investigations by researching security advisories, intrusion techniques, analysis tools, and practices
  • Contribute to operational reporting by collecting, researching and presenting findings from results produced by our security platforms, and backing up other team members when they are unavailable
  • Assist in developing security awareness programs, communications and education opportunities
  • Consult with IT peers to discuss and plan for remediating vulnerabilities and resolving issues
  • Stay current on cybersecurity trends and news, and share with team members
  • Research vendor security offerings and present ideas and recommendations to the team
  • Broaden overall security knowledge and capabilities by participating in a variety of cybersecurity-related projects and initiatives

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, computer science, or related field, or relevant professional experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience or exposure with any of the following - Cybersecurity, Security Operations, commonly used Cybersecurity tools, workflows, and concepts
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
  • Experience with the use of an ITSM tool for user level request and incident management
  • Experience with inventory tools for asset discovery and management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with functional areas outside of the Cybersecurity team
  • Self-motivated, able to self-manage work and tasks within a team-oriented environment
  • Must have the ability and desire to learn, understand and apply new technologies

OTHER VALUED SKILLS

  • Security certifications or other training relevant to the function
  • Good presentation skills
  • Understanding of patch management and the need to deploy patches in a timely manner
  • Understanding of ITIL, specifically incident management and change management processes
  • Basic understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts
  • Basic knowledge of cloud environments including security, configuration, and management
  • Experience with or exposure to with AWS or Azure and Azure AD
  • Experience with supporting endpoint devices including installation, configuration, troubleshooting
