At CPCCo, located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. Our Fire Protection team is seeking a dynamic Fire Protection Engineer who has outstanding technical abilities and excellent time management skills. Our mission is to minimize the likelihood of occurrence of a fire-related event, minimize the consequence of a fire-related event affecting the workers, public, environment, and property, and prove a level of safety protection consistent with the "highly protected risk" class of industrial risks. This posting is for multiple potential engineering groups within CPCCo. The specific group will be based on the alignment of your skillset with CPCCo needs.
Under direct/limited supervision, as a Fire Protection Engineer (Early Career & Intermediate), your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Assuring that fire hazards are controlled/mitigated, that life safety is maintained, and that facilities and operations are in compliance with DOE contract requirements, NFPA codes and standards, and other applicable statutory requirements.
* Providing fire hazards analysis, facility fire assessments, design and work document reviews, and oversight of operations to help assure fire safety.
* Achieving and maintaining qualification in accordance with the CPCCo Company Fire Protection Engineer Qualification Program.
* Interfacing with the Hanford Fire Marshal (HFM) and, if qualified as a Deputy Fire Marshal (DFM), function on the behalf of the HFM in performing DFM responsibilities as authorized.
* Working closely with project nuclear safety staff to maintain the fire hazards analyses for the projects and to support maintenance of the documented safety analyses.
* Performing work in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.
Basic Qualifications
* Early Career Level Grade 14: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
* Intermediate Level Grade 16: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 2 or more years of relevant experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Familiarity with International Building Code; NFPA fire codes and standards; and Federal or state occupational safety and health requirements that impact facility safety and equipment design.
* Previous experience working in nuclear, industrial, oil, gas, construction, or demolition fields with emphasis on DOE facilities.
* NICET Certifications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* EIT (engineering in training).
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
* Early Career Level Grade 14: $71,200 - $89,800.
* Intermediate Level Grade 16: $86,138 - $108,513.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
