GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES

Central Piedmont is currently seeking a PT Lab Assistant I in our Technology/Simulation and Game Development department located on Central Campus, Levine Technology Building.

The Simulation and Game Development program at Central Piedmont is among the first in the country to us augmented and virtual reality equipment to create virtual simulations and games. Students of the SGD program study visual arts, audio and visual technology, conceptual planning, creative writing, 3D modeling, artificial intelligence, and database administration.


General Function

Assists with coordination of laboratory activities to support instructional programs


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists with laboratory/clinical/ activities.
2. Assists with monitoring and coaching students in a lab setting; process basic data entry.
3. Assists in preparation of facility for classes and helps keep work areas are clean and neat; helps
distribute lab materials and handouts.
4. Assists in maintaining laboratory equipment; performs simple maintenance, cleans and stores equipment
when not in use, and notifies supervisor of any needed repairs.
5. Assists with inventory of materials and supplies, initiates ordering process as needed.
6. Assists with maintenance of lab library of materials which may include books, tapes, and magazines.
7. Assists with maintenance of records of laboratory activities and student files including grades and attendance.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires basic computer literacy (when appropriate)
High School Diploma or GED


Preferred Qualifications

A current student or graduate of the SGD Program

Familiarity with SGD program and tools

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary for this position is $15.00. Classification type is Classified. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
