Primary Purpose
Set up and monitor the photo lab during open lab hours, including mixing, and performing general clean up afterwards.
Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities
Lab assistant will be setting up and monitoring the darkroom during open lab hours, including mixing, and performing general clean up afterwards. May be asked to assist in other art labs or gallery events if needed.
Lab assistant is responsible for the safety and security of the equipment in the classroom. Also responsible for turning off all equipment at the end of lab hours and verifying the room is locked and secure.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.
  • Must have black and white wet darkroom film processing and printing experience. Must be familiar with enlargers as well as general processing and printing operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage conflicts within and/or between groups and to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to be accurate and detail oriented.
  • Ability to remain flexible and do different tasks on a daily basis.
  • Ability to provide consistent and dependable customer service.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity.
  • Ability to use software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and email.
Ergonomic Requirements
A flexible work schedule may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities. There may be opportunities for night and weekend hours. Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an indoor studio environment. Must be able to work in darkroom conditions. Requires to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. May need to use a ladder. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2023-24
  • Meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid.
