Central Michigan University is Hiring an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE Near Mount Pleasant, MI

The Assistant Director works directly under the supervision of the Associate Director/Leadership Institute in the creation and implementation of student leadership programs. The Assistant Director/Leadership Institute works closely with the Associate Director to recruit, select, and train staff for Leadership Safari and deliver a curriculum for new CMU freshmen and transfer students. The Assistant Director plays a lead role in the delivery of Central Michigan University’s student leadership programs, including the LeaderShape Institute, the Connections Leadership Conference, and on-demand leadership trainings.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
One year of experience working directly with college students.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of the personal and social aspects faced by college students of all backgrounds.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to plan, establish priorities and handle multiple tasks and projects.
Flexibility in schedule and work hours that allow for student access during peak cycles.
Experience using a computer, online systems, web browser, word processing and database programs.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in student personnel services, higher education, leadership, or a related field.
One year of direct student leadership program experience.
Experience working with transfer students and non-traditional student populations.
Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and implementing campus visitation events.
Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluates and maintains existing leadership programs, including the selection and training of student program coordinators and volunteer facilitators.
Informs the budgeting process, and responsibly manages funds allocated to student leadership programs.
Supervises up to two (2) graduate assistants and twenty-five (25) undergraduate employee program coordinators; manages the performance review process that aligns with learning outcomes specified by the university-wide leadership model.
Under the direction of the Associate Director/Leadership Institute, assists with the development of curriculum for Leadership Safari program; coordinates logistics for more than 1,000 participants and staff; and conducts program assessment related to Safari participants’ achievement of stated learning outcomes.
Assists with the selection of speakers and curriculum design for Leadership Safari.
Develops and delivers new modules and programs in accordance with the university-wide model of student leadership development.
Develops and maintains a not-for-credit facilitator training course and supporting manuals and materials.
Delivers campus-based sessions of the LeaderShape Institute; coordinates all participant recruitment and selection, identifies and selects appropriate faculty to serve as cluster facilitators, and manages site selection and logistics.
Assists with the delivery of the Connections Leadership Conference Committee; ensures successful execution of the Connections Leadership Conference, including site selection and logistics, distributing a call for programs, organizing a peer-review process for submissions, and participant recruitment and selection.
Provides advanced leadership skill development experiences to student organization executive boards, faculty/staff advisors, and student members.
Designs and implements strategies to increase campus and community awareness of the importance of leadership skills and highlights the resources on the Central Michigan University campus to develop leadership skills.
Assists the Admissions office with recruiting talented high school leaders to attend Central Michigan University.
Maintains records for all programs and resource materials including number of attendees, satisfaction and impact of service, i.e., return on investment, learning outcomes, etc.
Assists with program evaluation and assessment providing recommendations to enhance communications and advancing the university- wide model of leadership development.
