Central Michigan University is Hiring an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/ADVANCEMENT SYSTEM SERVICES Near Mount Pleasant, MI

The Assistant Director of Advancement System Services is responsible for managing the Advancement CRM system, Blackbaud, along with overseeing and optimizing all advancement systems, coordinating technology solutions across departments, and contributing to strategic technological initiatives. This position plays a pivotal role in evaluating and implementing innovative technologies, ensuring data security and compliance, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement throughout CMU’s technological landscape.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in project management, information technology, business administration, or computer science or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years.
Experience with relational databases.
Demonstrated understanding of analytical techniques.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Considerable knowledge and comprehension of alumni, development, and campaign principles.
Proficient understanding of relational database concepts, technologies, and structures.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL and Reporting Services.
General understanding of the structure of higher education and familiarity with a college environment.
Awareness of fundraising strategies in higher education.
Certification in Raiser’s Edge NXT Fundamentals or similar credentials.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists the Director of Advancement Services in overseeing the maintenance of the Development and Alumni Relations database, ensuring that all 300,000 records are current and accessible.
Prepares reports as requested by Director, containing alumni data for use throughout the division and for various campus partners.
Works with the Director of Advancement Services to assist university divisions and departments with data system support needs, ensuring the availability of information necessary to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.
Offers advanced technical support, guidance, and expertise to ensure the smooth operation of different technology systems. These systems include but are not limited to Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge and Fundraiser Performance Management.
Provides insights and recommendations for enhancing existing systems and implementing innovative technologies that align with University Advancement objectives.
Collaborates with various teams including Accounting, Research, Athletics, Alumni Relations, and Fundraisers to understand and address technology-related needs.
Works closely with stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement technology solutions that support fundraising, alumni engagement, and other Advancement initiatives.
Manages and maintains the technological infrastructure that supports advancement operations, including databases, software applications, and hardware systems.
Assists in the implementation and optimization of systems crucial for the efficient functioning of University Advancement.
Provides technical support to staff members and end-users, addressing and resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity.
Conducts troubleshooting to ensure a seamless experience for users, maintaining the operational continuity of critical systems.
Acts as the technical point-of-contact with Blackbaud for issues that require vendor intervention and as the technical lead for data reporting.
Develops and maintains a utility library to house procedures that maintain data integrity and system synchronizations.
Maintains comprehensive documentation regarding systems, processes, and procedures.
Generates reports and provides insights on the performance and effectiveness of technology systems utilized in advancement initiatives.
Analyzes requirements and suggests suitable technology solutions or systems to enhance fundraising strategies, alumni engagement, and communication initiatives.
Ensures the seamless integration of technological solutions with existing systems and workflows.
Participates in the planning stages of technology projects, outlining project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgetary requirements.
Coordinates the execution of projects, working closely with relevant teams and external vendors if as necessary.
