The Physician Assistant (PA) Masters in Science Program in the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences is recruiting for a full-time, 12 month, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level, depending on credentials, to begin July 1, 2024 or earlier. The duties of this position involve classroom teaching, advising, committee service, scholarly activity, and other duties as assigned. Further, this position includes an initial, five-year appointment as program director, directing the ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Education Program.

Required Qualifications

* Master degree in Physician Assistant studies.

* Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a physician assistant in Michigan if licensed elsewhere.

* NCCPA Board Certification required.

* A minimum of three (3) years of PA Education.

* Recent clinical and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: surgery, emergency medicine, clinical procedures, radiology, hospitalist/internal medicine and basic medical sciences.

* Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

* An earned Doctoral degree.

* Previous experience directing a physician assistant education program.

* Evidence of scholarly work that has the potential to lead to external funding.

* Evidence of involvement with professional associations and organizations.

* Proficiency in use of technology.

* Effective oral/written communication skills.

* Demonstrated leadership skills.

* Demonstrated commitment to diversity.

About the Department

Central Michigan University offers a 27-month PA Program leading to a Master of Science degree. The program emphasizes the provision of medical care to rural, underserved communities in central and northern Michigan. The PA program was founded in 1996. It has a track record of outstanding graduate outcomes and enjoys strong institutional support. The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). The college offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in athletic training, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, environmental health and safety, health administration, physical activity specialist, physical education, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, school and public health education, speech-language pathology, and sport management, delivered by 100 faculty/staff.
