Our Pet Segment is seeking a Lab Assistant to be a part of our Segrest Division out of Gibsonton, Florida. Your primary role will be to assist the Lab Manager in ensuring that the needs of the animals are properly and consistently met as well as ensuring that our Life Support Systems are running as designed and performing a variety of fisheries support activities to support the health and life conditions of all species in our facility under the guidance of the Lab Manager. MEASURES OF SUCCESS

• Collect water samples and data accurately and efficiently.
• Fill in for inner-department coworkers as needed and provide backup for the Lab Manager.
• Trouble shoot life support system issues when necessary.
• Maintain animal life support systems for cleanliness and proper function.
• Assisting in properly feeding the fish and other animals.
• Medication feeding.
• Create and print Hold/ TX/EZ lists.
• Scrub & siphon.
• Tank treatments.
• Prepare medication.
• Prepare repashy feed.
• Clean feed areas.
• Salt and chemical addition.
• Live / frozen feeding.
• Equipment walks.
• Water testing.
• Create email reports
• Adjust injectors
• Work with maintenance in system issues.
• Hallway water change
• Refill systems
• C lean flow meters
• System treatments.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

• Knowledge and experience of fish farm production.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish language skills strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Office software preferred (Excel and Word).
• Ability to walk and stand for up to 10 hours plus per shift.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and master new equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments and multiple levels of management.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
• There may be some variation in work hours due to overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
