Central Garden & Pet Home is searching for a talented Human Resources Generalist with terrific leadership and multi-tasking skills to support the integration of two recently acquired business units. The newly combined organization, Central Home Brands (CHB), part of our Pet Consumer segment, is an industry leader in manufacturing Outdoor Cushions, Pillows and Pet Beds. This role reports to the Senior HR Manager for Central Home Brands in Sanford, NC.

The incumbent will work in support of our Central to Home strategy and drive progressive HR initiatives that strengthen our Culture pillar, including developing and recruiting top diverse talent, building capability, and continuing to solidify Central Garden & Pet’s position as a great place to work. MEASURES OF SUCCESS

• Actively participate in talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing daily routine employee transactions.
• Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees, with support of HR Manager and Plant Manager.
• Manages expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; preparing reports, and delivering results.
• Proactively partners with plant and corporate leaders and the HR team ensuring compliance with company policies and mandates, recommending modifications as needed.
• Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; proactively exploring opportunities to add value to the organization.
• Protects rights of employees and organization by keeping confidential information confidential.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Supports payroll function and HRIS management.

IDEAL CANDIDDATE ATTRIBUTES:

• Bilingual (Spanish) required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred; Human Resources or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in HR experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; experience in distribution or textile environments strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, implementation, and organizational skills.
• Thorough knowledge of core Human Resource competencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to quickly learn other computer software as needed. (e.g. ADP WFN, Carrier Sites, etc).

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Our standard work schedule is M-F 7 am – 4pm, but during peak production periods over time may be required.
• Diverse mix of employees, spread across multiple building, approximately 325 employees during peak season.
• This position is based in Sanford, NC – regular travel outside Sanford is not expected for this role.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
