Central Coast Wound Care + Hyperbarics is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Pismo Beach, CA

Central Coast Wound Care and Hyperbarics is the first and only full-service, physician- supervised wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy center in San Luis Obispo and North Santa Barbara County. Led by our wound care expert and board-certified physician, Dr. Steve Sabo, we specialize in treating a variety of wounds and medical conditions in our state-of-the-art facility centrally located in Pismo Beach. Our growing team is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team as a Wound Care / Hyperberic Oxygen Therapy Driver.

Job description

The medical assistant works in tandem with the Central Coast Wound Care Center (CCWC) clinical care team to provide patients with excellent medical care in the most respectful and courteous manner. Our goal is to ensure that every patient feels like they are our most important patient that day. Make sure that all patients are made to feel welcome and comfortable.

Essential Daily Responsibilities

1. Prepare exam rooms for the day; turn the appropriate equipment on; and make sure that all treatment rooms are adequately stocked for the day’s procedures, wound care, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy; make sure all adequate inventory is on-site for upcoming care.

2. Escort patients to the exam room; review the patient’s medical history; bring to provider’s attention any significant health problems, medications and/or allergies identified either on the patient’s medical history forms or told to you by the patient; Accurately and timely documentation of information in EMR.

6. Obtain basic vitals, pre- and post-procedure photos of the patient's clinical area of concern

7. Assist providers with patient procedures as directed

8. Re-stock and clean exam rooms throughout the day; sterilize instruments after procedures; autoclave instruments and equipment; properly disinfect exam room after procedures and patient exams; restock carts; and check sharps containers (replace as needed); put together procedure packets, as needed; upload images into EMR.

9. Oversees patient needs and suggests solutions to patient care problems – 100% patient satisfaction is our daily goal

10. Maintains patient confidentiality

Knowledge

1. Knowledge of EMR software appointment scheduling / Insurance pre-certification guidelines

2. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures

3. Knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA safety procedures and precautions to establish / maintain a safe work environment.

4. Knowledge of wound care and treatment (will train)

5. Knowledge of Hyperbarics (completion of course may be required) (will train)

Skill in exercising high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and day-to-day decision-making

Abilities

1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, referral physicians and their staff, patients, and vendor relationships

2. Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality

3. Ability to maintain quality control standards

4. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Clinic Hours:

  • Hours of Operation: M-F / 8am-6pm

Certified / Registered Medical Assistant Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistant in CA
  • EMR experience
  • Pay increases with years of experience
  • Bilingual English Spanish preffered

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
